Team Turbo is an exciting addition to the 1000 Miles team – supported by both the School of Mechanical Aerospace and Civil Engineering (MACE) at UoM and one of our main sponsors Bikeshak Altrincham, Team Turbo will see academic and support staff from the School riding over 1000 miles on a stationary smart turbo, while the 1000 Miles crew do the same thing outside. This has been done to try and let everybody who wants to be a part of fundraising for such a great cause get involved, without the massive ask of spending more than two weeks away from home! Team Turbo will be running in and around MACE from June 19th, with many members joining the main team on the final days ride into the RMCH. Don’t forget to go and give them a cheer if you’re passing by!
Like Tim, James has done both previous charity rides and is a stalwart of the group. However as a (very) new father James will be taking a bit of a back seat this time around, and doing this challenge for the UK leg only.
Sarah is the Head of School Admin for MACE, she's been a driving force in getting Team Turbo up and running while the ride is happening and we're looking forward to watching the (relatively) easy bit of riding now!
Alice is the Head of School for MACE and a keen cyclist, with several QoM's to her name - she's also grabbed the early morning slots on the turbo so you'll have to get in early to see her suffering!
Rob works in the nuclear fuels group with Joel and from his picture it’s clear he is much more used to the carb-loading aspect of training for endurance race rather than the actual physical exertion side of things. Opting for a daily stint on the indoor MACE team turbo shouldn’t be too hard.. should it?
Mark is committed to doing this tag-team ride because it is such a fantastic cause and knows full well he is not up to doing the full ride out on the road. Go Team!
